Grand Ledge Lacrosse Club

Letter from the GLLC President

On behalf of the Grand Ledge Lacrosse Club (GLLC), I would like to welcome you to the 2023 Lacrosse season!

We have some great things ahead of us starting with a significant change this season.  New for 2023, High School Boys and Girls programs have OFFICIALLY become Varsity programs for Grand Ledge High School!  This accomplishment was made possible by years of effort from coaches, players and parents all devoting time, money, and effort to build robust and competitive programs for our young men and women.  As a Varsity sport, registration fees will no longer be collected by GLLC.  The cost to register players will be limited to the GLPS “pay-to-play” fee.  GLLC will continue to support the Varsity programs financially in a supplemental capacity for the 2023 season and continue to act in a fundraising capacity.  We will work closely with the Varsity Coaches as well as the Athletic Department to meet the needs of the teams we support.  Stay tuned for more information regarding fundraising during the 2023 season.

We have some significant news for our Youth programs – namely a substantial reduction in registration fees for our families.  The Grand Ledge Lacrosse community has been exceptional in our fundraising efforts over the past several years allowing us to make the game more financially accessible to our club members and new players.  The fee schedule will be assessed each season for adjustments.

As exciting as these announcements are to make, I have a call to action for our community.  Overall, Lacrosse participation in Grand Ledge has declined roughly 30% since the 2019 season.  While the rate of decline slowed in 2022, we’re still seeing fewer kids participating year over year.  Parents and players close to this sport have a unique opportunity to influence others within the community to participate in this great game.  Please bring someone you know into the sport, regardless of their age.  So many kids still don’t know what Lacrosse is about or that it’s even a sport available to them.

In addition, our GLLC Board is seeking additional help for Committee Chair positions as well as general help.  We recently appointed a new Committee Chair of Recruiting (Ken Wright), and we’re looking to fill other positions as well (see the website for current openings).  If you’re interested in helping, please contact the club via email or contact me directly.

Registration will open on 1/30/2023 and practices will begin the week of 3/13/2023 – more details to follow on locations.

Thank you for your continued support of this great game and the lacrosse community in Grand Ledge.  Let’s have a great 2023 Season!
